![]() Brush Up Your IFR Skills at This Month's Second Saturday! Are you getting ready to take the knowledge test for your Instrument Rating? Or do you have your IFR ticket, but suspect you're not quite as sharp as you used to be? At this month's Second Saturday Seminar, Willamette Aviation CFII Dick Oman will present our occasional "IFR Nerdfest," with a review of critical IFR concepts. Some parts of the IFR system are straightforward, others obscure, and plenty tend to to provoke a lot of discussion. Know the difference between and ILS and an LDA? Or under what circumstances you can descend below MEA? Think you know all there is about holding-pattern entries, and when to use which types? Don't miss this one — we're looking forward to it!

![]() Short Finals… · When summer changes over to fall, active weather systems return to our flying region — often with fast-moving fronts that can cause trouble for unprepared pilots. Low ceilings and poor visibility are nothing less than a deadly trap, and it's one you should know how to avoid. The AOPA Air Safety Institute's online course "VFR into IMC" asks you to assess your decision-making skills when confronted with adverse conditions, while also covering the basic knowledge you need to avoid being there in the first place. "VFR into IMC" is iPad compatible, and it qualifies for the AOPA Accident Forgiveness and FAA Wings Program credit. Click here to get started!
