FAA Issues Brief No-Fly Requirement for Vaccine Recipients

We are strongly advocating that our customers receive vaccination for the 2019 Novel Coronavirus when one is made available to them. We are looking forward to the gradual lifting of mask mandates this year — in our airplanes and classrooms, and eventually across our campus. Universal vaccination within our flight community will help us reach this goal.

As vaccines become available to the public over the next several months, pilots should be aware that the FAA's Office of Aerospace Medicine (OAM) has adopted a brief no-fly policy after a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccination is administered. The OAM has stated: "Holders of FAA-issued Airman Medical Certificates or Medical Clearances may receive the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine; however, a 48-hour no fly/no safety related duty interval must be observed after each dose." The requirement will be in effect after each of two required doses. The FAA has indicated that they will be reviewing additional vaccines after they are approved by the FDA.

We are asking that all of our customers comply with this FAA requirement. During any no-fly period, customers are encouraged to use one of our two flight simulators with an instructor. For more information, please see this article on the AOPA website.

Private Pilot Ground School Starts Jan. 23!

Our Private Pilot Ground School winter session gets underway this month — it's good value for student pilots, people who are getting ready to fly, and anyone who needs a refresher. The 40-hour, FAA-certified course is led by certified instructors and includes five complimentary hours in our Flight Lab (instruction fees apply), as well as free attendance to any future private pilot course. Classes start on Saturday, Jan. 23, and run each Saturday from 0800-1200. Tuition for the 12-week course is $470. New students who pay by Jan. 23 will receive a 10% discount on course materials ($143.95, regularly $159.95) as well as 10% off in the Pilot Shop for the duration of the class.
