Portland ATC Visits Willamette Aviation for Second Saturday!

At this month's Second Saturday Seminar, we are pleased to welcome PDX Tower controller Richard Kennington, who will offer an overview of Portland Tower and TRACON operations. Richard is an experienced air traffic controller, starting out in Salt Lake in 1999, and then transferring to Portland. He also has a background in general aviation, both as a certified pilot and in regional airport management. Expect a thorough overview of Class C airspace, as well as a look at how to take advantage of controlled airspace and improve your pilot proficiency. Bring plenty of questions!

This month's Second Saturday gets underway on March 11 at 1100 in the Education Hangar at Willamette Aviation. The event is certified for FAA Wings credit and there is no charge. After the event, everyone is welcome to stick around for this month's Apple Pie Social. We'll be serving hot apple pie and other treats. We'll see you there!

Short Finals…

· Our friends at Horizon Air will be visiting our campus this month to host a Pilot Development Program event. If you plan to make aviation a career and you're on the fast track, drop by to meet with Horizon's pilots and learn how their development program paves the way to Horizon Air. Horizon also offers the fastest path to mainline flying at Alaska Airlines, and financial incentives are included. Drop by our Education Hangar on Friday, March 24 at 1300 hours. After the presentation, Horizon's team will be conducting interviews (slots are limited). Find out more at https://bit.ly/horizonairpdp.

· If you've been thinking about adding an instrument rating to your pilot certificate, Willamette Aviation's ground school is the best way to prepare — not only for passing the required knowledge exam, but for understanding what to expect as you log hours toward your goal. Our Instrument Pilot Ground School starts on Monday, March 27 at 1900 hours and runs for ten weeks on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Please contact us for more information, or feel free to add yourself to the sign-up sheet at our dispatch desk.
