Improve Your Flying Skills at This Month's Second Saturday!

We're delighted to welcome Ray Beverly to this month's Second Saturday Seminar! Ray is an ATP and Gold Seal flight instructor with an extensive aviation background — he spent 20 years in the USAF flying T-38 and B-52 aircraft, has owned two flight schools, flies a Citation X for NetJets, and is an aircraft owner. He also has a master's degree in education and is a Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE). In this month's seminar Ray will discuss several advanced topics, including how to manage in-flight stress, think aerodynamically when flying, and understand the role of motor skills when at the controls. With 23,000 flight hours, Ray will have a few stories to share as well.

This month's Second Saturday gets underway on Feb. 10 at 1100 in the Education Hangar at Willamette Aviation. The event is certified for FAA Wings credit and there is no charge. After the event, everyone is welcome to stick around for this month's Apple Pie Social. We'll be serving hot apple pie and other treats. We'll see you there!

Short Finals…

· Alex Jonson joins our team of flight instructors this month at Willamette Aviation! Alex is a Pacific Northwest native who fell in love with aviation at a young age. He began flying as a teenager in Seattle. He has since lived in Arizona, where he acquired an aeronautical science degree along with all of his ratings. Alex gained experience teaching in the desert, which he happily brings back to the much-wetter Willamette Valley. He also has a strong, lifelong passion for aviation and feels best when he is in the air with his students. "Being able to teach the world of aviation to aspiring pilots is not only fun," Alex says "but one of the most rewarding things a person can do."

· Our friends at Horizon Air will be visiting our campus this month to host a Pilot Development Program event. If you plan to make aviation a career and you're on the fast track, drop by to meet with Horizon's pilots and learn how their development program paves the way to Horizon Air. Horizon also offers the fastest path to mainline flying at Alaska Airlines, and financial incentives are included. Drop by our Education Hangar on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 1200 hours. After the presentation, Horizon's team will be conducting interviews (slots are limited). Find out more at careers.alaskaair.com.
