Most student pilots earn their certificates in rented airplanes, and most certificated pilots rent so they can stay current and take family and friends flying without the time and expense of ownership.
Pilots working on additional certificates and ratings — such as Instrument, Commercial, and Multi-Engine — typically complete their training in rental aircraft too.
